First 5K Mantras

Hello, friends!

Later today I will be running (and possibly walking) my first 5K!  I hope to run the whole thing but I’m not going to beat myself up if I don’t.  I’m just going to run as far as I can without stopping, and only walking if I really can’t push through it.  I’m a little nervous for two main reasons: (1) I’ve only ever run 2 miles without stopping and that was tough, and (2) I always run in the morning and my race won’t start until 7:00pm tonight. The whole night thing could actually be a good thing because I won’t be trying to wake up but I’m just not sure.

I have a few mantras that I plan on saying to myself throughout the race.

You are stronger than you think you are!

Rule your mind or it will rule you.

Think strong.  Be strong.  Finish strong.

Don’t stop when you’re getting tired, that’s when you’re getting stronger!

You were BORN to run.
